Happy (early) Valentine’s Day Everyone! We’ve got some fresh video content for you this week…HOT off the media encoder. Hope you enjoy. -J
Yeah, Jess and I fulfilled a childhood dream of choreographing a full dance and sharing it with our friends. It was really fun and a huge mood boost. Highly recommend to anyone interested in new ways to boost serotonin. -S
heyguysthisis…Jess! Here to cure those of you still coming down of that sweet Super Bowl high. It’s currently Sunday, and the game is happening as I write this, but we’ve opted to skip it in favor of starting Terrace House: Opening New Doors. Though this didn’t stop Sophie from kicking off the festivities by making a delicious chorizo queso! Alright! Lately things have been pretty slow-paced around here, and it’s been easy to spend the weekends just sort of walking around the house until somehow the day is over. There’s hope on the horizon, because the sexiest holiday of the year is just around the corner. I think you know what I mean…………………President’s Day! Just kidding.
Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching, and Sophie and I are definitely in the spirit. I hope this emails finds you well and feeling the love, love, LOVE too. While some holidays seem to lose some of their luster as the years go on, Valentine’s Day has managed to maintain its special feeling. It’s so much fun and all about cute things and candy and telling the people you love that you love them. The best that this holiday has to offer are elementary school valentine celebrations, where kids spend the weeks leading up to the holiday decorating a shoe-box and cutting a small slit out of the top to create mini mailboxes for themselves! Everyone gives a valentine to everyone and things are very pure and egalitarian (aside from making sure that my crush got whichever card I felt had the best version of my signature).
With that, in honor of this special day, I want to give you all…
A List of Icebreakers to Use on Your Crush
♥ Is this seat taken?
♥ Do you prefer salty snack or sweet treat?
♥ I’m in dire need of your assistance. Don’t look, but there is a woman in a blue raincoat just behind me—I said don’t look—she’s been following me for days, because of a piece of information I have recently come to possess that was not meant for my knowledge. I’m leaving town tonight, and if you have any sense, you’ll meet me at the bus station for the 7:05 Greyhound with enough canned food to last us the next six weeks.
♥ Cool guitar!

♥ For some light listening, here’s a podcast in which people talk about their favorite movies. This episode is about You’ve Got Mail:
♥ Hunger, Cookies, and Intimacy: an amazing piece on diet culture and unapologetic eating, shared with us by our dear friend Olivia! I needed this right now.
That’s all! See you soon. Love,

Hi everyone, it’s me, SOPHIE!
Wow wow wow, I have to say, when I realized that this newsletter would fall on the week of my all-time FAVORITE holiday, I got really excited. Echoing Jess, I have such fond memories of decorating a shoebox and setting it out on my desk, then combing through the compulsory Valentines I’d received later on. So much chocolate and brightly colored imagery (especially if you went the store-bought valentine route). I’m excited by this holiday for a multitude of reasons I have elaborated upon ad nauseam to pretty much everyone I know. I think it’s most likely because Valentine’s Day has always felt like the perfect intersection in the imaginary Venn-Diagram of all the things I’m drawn to thinking about: love, arts and crafts, sharing with friends, candy, red and pink as a color pairing, glitter…and things that are just a little bit sappy.
Before we go any further here, yeah, I know what the Valentine’s haters think: Of course, you can always see holidays as a consumerist ploy to get people to buy things, but I’m here to remind you: you don’t have to buy things to celebrate (duh! sending cute emails exists and costs nothing!) Also, to me, Valentine’s Day isn’t a day of celebration reserved only for those who are partnered so much as a day for anyone and everyone to celebrate friendship love, familial love, non-romantic love…you get the picture. Lastly, if you can’t beat em, join em. Hmmm I’ve been thinking about this saying a lot lately…So there we have it! An entire day dedicated to sweet tasting things and sweet sentiments.
Need an idea for a message to send to your special someone? Luckily, I did some googling for you and found you all some great suggestions that I slightly altered to make them a little more gender/marriage/relationship neutral cuz they were made for married* people. What. I kinda free-balled it and it turned into an ad-libs situation so feel free to alter these to your liking. I know I’ll be using quite of few of these this week…Get ready
*(Random but does anyone have a disgust for the word “HUBBY”??? Why does that exist)
and one more. If you’re still looking for that perfect message, please look no further. I found this one on the internet and I didn’t really alter anything here.
Next up, we’ve got a virtual box of chocolates here for you all. I was trying to decide what my favorite chocolate from a box of chocolates would be, because I think that’s a great icebreaker or indicative personality question. On first thought, I guess I would go for…anything with peanuts or almonds inside.
On second thought, I LOVE anything chocolate with marshmallow on the inside. Does that exist in a typical box of chocolates? Not really sure.
Lastly, have you ever wondered if someone has compiled a list of all the sayings that appear on the infamous/famous (???do people generally like these??) conversation hearts? You’re in luck! and a comparison of different conversation hearts brands sayings…my greatest wish…
Some highlights from throughout the years:
SWEET LOVE (2009)
NATURE LOVER (2008)
MAGIC NEWLOVE (2004)
LET’S READ (2003)
2000 HUGS (2000)
FAX ME (1998)
PAGE ME (1998)
and below, an excerpt of the sayings found on sour patch hearts…not so sure what I think about these, but there’s a conversation heart out there for everyone I guess!
That’s all I’ve got for this week. I hope you all find some time this week to treat yourself however you like!! : - )
Love, love, love,
Sophie
